Teaching Philosophy

I believe art education is essential for nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression. My teaching approach emphasizes process over product, encouraging students to take risks, explore diverse materials, and trust their unique artistic voice. I strive to create an inclusive and supportive classroom where all students feel seen, valued, and empowered to share their perspectives through art. I integrate art history and contemporary practices to connect students with a broader cultural context, helping them understand the relevance of art in society. Collaboration, reflection, and open dialogue are key components of my classroom, as they foster growth and community. Ultimately, I aim to inspire lifelong engagement with the arts and confidence in creative problem-solving beyond the classroom.

Who am I?

My name is Sandy Lada. I am a student at Wayne State University, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Art Education. I earned an associates degree in Pre-Secondary Education from Henry Ford College in 2022. I am married to my husband Frank and we have three boys. Our boys are very active in sports year round and I love to volunteer with their sports organizations. When I am not working or attending school, I dedicate my time to youth football, where I am an active board member, and assisting their physical education teacher with the 100 Mile Club.
